Some weddings you photograph. Others you feel in your bones. Aisha and Jiv’s wedding was the latter — and I say that having photographed hundreds of celebrations. This one was different. From the very first conversation, it was clear that this day wasn’t simply a wedding. It was a love letter. To each other, to family, and to a mother-in-law who left this world too soon but whose presence was felt in every single corner of that day.

The Setting
They wanted to marry overlooking the Caribbean blues, and honestly, the water did half my job for me. That backdrop — vast, calm, eternal — paired with the softest pastels you’ve ever seen created something that felt less like a color palette and more like an emotion. Still. Tender. Luminous. Every frame felt like it was already lit from within.

The Details That Made You Stop
Then came Peanut. Aisha’s service dog walked her down the aisle — and if that alone didn’t undo you, he also stayed by her side through the pheras. There is something about watching love expressed without a single word that reminds you what all of this is actually about. Peanut wasn’t a cute detail. He was family. And the room felt it.
Aisha’s father walked alongside her too, holding a custom umbrella — a deeply symbolic gesture rooted in the idea that even as she steps into her new life, she walks forward under his protection and blessing. It was one of those moments I’ll carry with me long after the gallery is delivered.

The Heart Behind It All
Throughout the day, there was an undercurrent of grief held gently alongside joy — the way it often is at weddings when someone beloved is missing. Jiv’s mother couldn’t be there, and yet she was there. In the lily on Aisha’s bouquet bag. In the photos placed among the florals. In the quiet, deliberate way this couple chose to honor her without making the day heavy. They made it beautiful instead.
That is its own kind of love.
As a photographer, you hope every wedding moves you. But every so often, you get one that changes you a little. Aisha and Jiv gave me one of those. Their day was thoughtful, soulful, and so completely them — and I am so grateful I got to witness it.
