How did you meet your husband? Tell us a little bit about your relationship.
We met down at the shore during the summer of 2013. We were introduced to each other through mutual friends and we hit it off!
How did he propose?
When I came home from work there were two dozen roses and a note sitting on our kitchen table that said “Be dressed and outside at 8pm dont ask any questions.” Well of course I called my friends but they were given strict orders to not speak to me! A black SUV picked me up at 8pm and did not disclose the location of where we were going. We ended up in Dumbo, Brooklyn. I opened the second note and it said to walk to the Carousel. He then got down on one knee and proposed. We then went to dinner and met with family and friends and celebrated into the morning. It was a great night!
How did you start planning your wedding? What were the first steps?
We decided to have an engagement party and that took some planning so we held off on the wedding part for a little. Then I had a Bridesmaids brunch in my house to ask my besties to be in my bridal party! After that, we picked a location for the wedding and everything fell into place. I found most of my vendors on the knot since we were having a destination. We based our choices on extensive research on their reviews. Everything turned out to be wonderful and each vendor was AMAZING!
Did you do any beauty or fitness prep for your big day?
Of Course!!!! Gym, Facial and Spray tan is the key to success!
What was your wedding theme?
We didn’t have a theme but our colors were White, Ivory, Gold and Greenery.
How did you choose your location?
I didn’t start right away. I wasn’t sure about what I wanted and I kept changing my mind about places. Finally we decided on Florida (we live in NY so the warm weather throughout the year was very appealing to us) we took the trip out there to look at a few hotels in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. We decided on doing it in Fort Lauderdale at the Ritz Carlton.
How did you decide on your bridesmaid style?
I knew from the beginning that I wanted something very sleek, something that the girls would be able to wear again. I took my bridesmaids with me to choose. Since our colors were ivory with greenery, I thought the best color would be a hunter green. They tried on about 5 different styles and we all agreed we loved the sleek tank style with the longer train in the back. I wanted my 3 Matrons of honor to stand out so their dress was a little different but all from the same collection.
How did you find your perfect dress?
I fell in love with my dress as soon as I put it on! I wanted something sexy and different , especially because it was going to be hot in Florida, but I also wanted to stay traditional. I knew that I wanted a Galia Lahav from the moment I started to search. I actually always knew I wanted a style from Galia (I have an album in my phone from years ago of saved dresses from Galia). I went to Bridal Reflections in NYC because they are known for their beautiful Galia Collection. I explained how I wanted a full skirt but I also wanted to be able to dance and have fun. They suggested that I do an overskirt with the dress and once I put on the Galia overskirt I felt the dress was complete. It was the dress of my dreams!
How was your experience with the Galia Lahav brand?
My experience was amazing. The detail of Galia is unmatched. Everything was on time and quick and I generally had no problems at all!
What was the most important thing for you and your husband when planning your wedding?
We really took our guests into consideration, we really wanted them to enjoy themselves since they were travelling to celebrate with us. The food and music were our biggest concern.
What was your first wedding song?
Our wedding song was “Stand by me” – by Florence and the Machine
What did you enjoy the most about planning your wedding?
We really enjoyed our vendors and building relationships with them throughout the whole process. Everyone became like a small family and it was great to have these interactions all together. We also enjoyed taking trips to florida to do our tasting and escape from the cold NY weather!!!
What advice would you give to all our future brides?
Dont stress! Don’t get wrapped up in every little detail because at the end of the day it’s a celebration and it’s the best day of your life!
What moment from your wedding will you never forget?
Wow! There are so many!!!!! My best memory is getting to enjoy it all with the people who are closest to me. Having everyone together and enjoying the celebration will be my favorite take away from the whole thing!
