If you think that once you walk down the aisle that you’re all done with the responsibilities of your wedding, you’re sorely mistaken. It’s not over once you’ve said your “I do’s”, because you’ve gotten a lot of gifts and many people have taken time and made an effort to be a part of your big day. Those people genuinely care about your happiness and probably won’t hold it against you too terribly long if they don’t get a thank you note, but why risk your grandma’s wrath if you don’t absolutely have to? Here’s a guide to thank you notes that will help you get through your post-wedding responsibilities as quickly and easily as possible.
1. Being Prepared
Once your guest list is finalized, make a copy and keep it in a safe place. Once you’ve gotten your wedding gifts and you’re ready to start opening them, retrieve the guest list and make a note of which gift came from which guest while you’re opening them. Your guest list should contain the addresses of your guests; if it doesn’t, jot addresses down from the gifts, if available.
